Storytelling is one of the earliest ways to share scientific advancements and discoveries. The advent of technology has updated this ancient art into a digitalized form.
Delhi Public School, Rudrapur organized a workshop on Mental Wellness through Story Telling on Monday, September 19, 2022.
In the workshop the renowned resource person Ms. Indu Punj explained about the boundaries between the digital storytelling (DST), and other types of videos.
Therefore, in this review, the process, aim, producers, and uses of DST in health profession education have been reviewed.
Ms. Indu Punj addressed the august gathering by throwing light on the importance of mental health in the modern world. The workshop commenced with the creative exercise to boost the energy. She emphasised on self love and care so that the love can be spread amongst the students later.
She talked about mental health that teachers' face in their personal and professional lives. The behavioural changes that everyone faced after the pandemic. She explained the difference between sadness & depression and elaborated the ways to tackle the depressing state, how to value oneself, being empathetic and to inculcate these emotional values and ethics amongst our students.
The stigma related to mental health is severe and unless mitigated, mental distress shall continue claiming lives bearing enormous potential. The need to open up about one’s problems, to nurture an effective mindset, to interact effectively and affectionately, are the qualities that the present generation and the posterity must inculcate. Support groups, open discussion sessions etc. are some of the ways for people with mental distress to engage in introspection and mitigation of this devastating ailment.
This workshop has ignited a spark to address the burning issue of mental health with sensitivity and maturity.
Many of the teachers opened up to interact with the speaker and asked various questions
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Honourable Chairman, Shri Surjit Singh Grover ji for organising the workshop and for providing us the platform to talk on such a sensitive and prominent issue.
Shri Surjit Singh Grover ji also appreciated the participation of the teaching fraternity in the workshop.
