Interactive Session by ISRO Scientist at DPS Rudrapur
Delhi Public School Rudrapur organized an engaging session with Dr. Rakesh Kumar, a leading expert in remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) applications for natural resource management, on 15 October 2024.
The session was a resounding success. Dr. Kumar began with a comprehensive introduction to remote sensing, explaining its significance in observing and analyzing Earth’s resources from a distance. He defined GIS as a powerful tool for collecting, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data.
The session highlighted various applications of remote sensing and GIS in managing natural resources, such as water, forests, and agriculture. Dr. Kumar also discussed recent advancements in satellite technology and data analytics. He emphasized ISRO’s role in developing satellite missions that provide critical data for resource management.
Dr. Kumar encouraged students to consider careers in environmental technology, stressing the growing demand for experts in this field.
The session concluded with a Q&A segment, where Dr. Kumar addressed various questions, sparking further interest in remote sensing and GIS. Feedback from participants showed strong appreciation for the insights shared and the practical applications discussed.
